Advocacy for LGBTQ+ Youth at Ward Museum Of Wildfowl Art in Salisbury MD

Monday, October 11, 2021 - 6:30PM to 8:00PM EST

Join us on National Coming Out Day: Monday October 11th for a special panel discussion centered around Advocating for LGBTQ+ Youth. This panel will be offered in lieu of PFLAG's standard member meeting.

All too often, parents, guardians, and other caregivers of LGBTQ+ youth need to advocate for their child to receive affirmative and appropriate resources and supports. This session is centered around providing parents, guardians, and other caregivers with the skills and tools they need to advocate for LGBTQ+ youth in their lives. Topics addressed include advocating for your child in school, finding affirming medical and mental health providers, and how to address when and in what ways to 'come out' as a caregiver of an LGBTQ+ child.

Panelists include parents, counselors, health educators, and others who work with and support LGBTQ+ youth.
Free and open to the public; food and beverages provided; give-aways. Simultaneous youth programming and daycare available.

This session will not be recorded in order to create an environment in which to have your questions answered in a safe and supportive setting. Masks required for entry.

Provided through a collaboration between PFLAG Salisbury and the Wicomico County Health Department.
