Meet Up: Pro-LGBTQ+ & NJ Health Standards: County Commissioners Meeting: Speak Up at Wayne Dumont Jr. Administration Building in Belvidere NJ

This is a reaction to the upcoming implementation of new Health and PE standards that will include students learning proper language and vocabulary of gender and sexuality. I'd love to see students from Warren County schools, affirming parents, and the LGBTQ+ community shows up as a team to give voice to how important this can be to students.

 

They also need to know how their action can cause tremendous harm to a big population of people they are supposed to represent and protect.

 

I would love to have a meeting with those who want to speak at the public open forum portion of the meeting, so there are balanced voices being heard. Everyone should have their voice heard, we should not be silenced. 

 

Direct link to the Health and PE standards from the Dept. of Ed that are called into question and protests from the right. Note pg 4, Pregnancy/Parenting standards, and pg 6, Social/Sexual Health. Pg 27 begins Performance Expectations by grades 2, 5, 8, and 12. The right is upset that by the end of grade 2, children are supposed to know the proper medical terms for all body parts. 

 

That's it. That's all that's required.

 

Pg. 28, that there are different ways to make up families, different ways that people express themselves, and gender stereotypes might "limit behavior." 

 

Pay attention to end-of-year expectations by different grades.
