Online Event: Virtual Strut Book Club: "Redefining Realness"

June 29, 2020 - 7:00PM to 9:30PM PST

For the month of June, we are reading Janet Mock's "Redefining Realness"

We are meeting remotely on June 29th, at 7 PM (PDT)
The Book Club meeting will be guest facilitated by Corey Baker!

About the book:
New York Times Bestseller • Winner of the 2015 WOMEN'S WAY Book Prize • Goodreads Best of 2014 Semi-Finalist • Books for a Better Life Award Finalist • Lambda Literary Award Finalist • Time Magazine “30 Most Influential People on the Internet” • American Library Association Stonewall Honor Book. In her profound and courageous New York Times bestseller, Janet Mock establishes herself as a resounding and inspirational voice for the transgender community—and anyone fighting to define themselves on their own terms. With unflinching honesty and moving prose, Janet Mock relays her experiences of growing up young, multiracial, poor, and trans in America, offering readers accessible language while imparting vital insight about the unique challenges and vulnerabilities of a marginalized and misunderstood population.

Please make sure to read the entire book beforehand and come ready to discuss your thoughts. This queer book club has been around since 2003 and I am excited about our third virtual queer book club meeting.

Stay tuned to this Facebook invite and come back to find out how to join the virtual discussion, link and password will be shared day of the meeting.

How do I get the book? There are several ways, you can always just buy it to read on your phone or on your pad device, but if you want to hold it in your arms and support local bookstores, Dog Eared Books in the Castro is now open for pick up. Or check on the bookstore near you and ask if they will let you buy the book and come pick it up. Or here is a link to get it through Alley Cat Books (which is also a part of our favorite bookstore Dog Eared Books in the Castro)
