Online Event: Covid19 & Trans Sex Workers In Mexico City From Strut In San Francisco CA

May 14, 2020 - 5:00PM to 7:00PM PST

QTPOC at Strut is proud to partner with Alejandra Rodriguez De Ruiz to bring you: COVID19 and Trans sex workers in Mexico City: Bringing visibility to the great inequality of a pandemic.

Special guest, Alejandra, will be sharing about the impacts and inequalities that Trans and cisgender sex workers face in the time of COVID-19. Join us this May 14t, 2020 at 5pm on Zoom.

Trans sex workers in Mexico City are being afflicted by the consequences of an excluding society and a discriminatory system, causing a domino effect, putting these populations in a very vulnerable and precarious situation and at high risk for infection of the coronavirus.

Trans and cis sex workers in Mexico City were evicted from the hotels where they lived and the hotels where they worked out were closed by the Mexican government with the excuse of them being an “ infectious and clandestine focus”. These actions left many trans sex workers homeless, with no means to work, and with no help or support from the Mexican government.

In this presentation, we will learn of their actual situation and how ONGs and private parties are helping these women to survive and make ends meet during this pandemic.

QTPOC at Strut is committed to the safety and well-being of our community by providing evening virtual programming while sheltered in place is active.

This is a FREE virtual event on Zoom. Links will be posted on Facebook here! So make sure to always check here for the details! Zoom app download may be required.
