Vogue Ball 2019 At Nimbus Dance Works In Jersey City NJ

Hudson Pride Center's Annual Vogue Ball! In conjunction with the Jersey City Art & Studio Tour, we welcome you to an evening of live art!

The Ballroom community is an LGBTQ+ subculture in which people "walk" for trophies, prizes, and respect at events known as balls. This community consists of "houses". Each house is usually led by LGBTQ+ identifying adults whom take on parental responsibilities for LGBTQ+ youth who have been rejected from their biological families due to their sexual orientation and/or gender identity. In a nutshell, houses serve as a safe spaces...and we look forward to preserving that sentiment!

Thanks to the hit series, "Pose", people are becoming more aware of Ballroom culture. And now, YOU get to partake in our live Vogue Ball, right here in Jersey City!

We recognize the change that results from platforms that privilege underrepresented voices, bodies, ideas, cultures – the vital power of visibility. Being visible, vocal and present expands the narratives of who we are as people, and the change is seen from the passing of Marriage Equality, to the LGBTQ+ and disability-inclusive curriculum bill, to a young person feeling inspired to shed the shame of being queer or poor and create a work that expresses their self-value.
