Online Event: Black Queer Equity Index Public Presentation

April 15, 2021 - 7:00PM to 8:30PM CST

On Thursday, April 15th at 7 pm, join Lighthouse Foundation as we launch our newest racial equity initiative, the Black Queer Equity Index (BQEI).

The BQEI is a mixed-method survey project that will gather information on the experiences of Black Queer employees and board members within the five participating organizations: AIDS Foundation of Chicago, Center on Halsted, Equality Illinois, Chicago House, and Social Service Agency, and Howard Brown Health.

This launch event will speak to the need to gather data on the experiences of Black Queer people in LGBTQ+ serving organizations and our vision for creating recommendations to help organizations better support their Black Queer stakeholders.

Hear from UIC student researchers and the Advisory Council members who helped design the surveys, along with testimonies from leaders of the participating institutions.

BQEI Advisory Council Members Include:
  • Tracy Baim, Chicago Reader & Windy City Times
  • Angela Barnes, Center on Halsted Board Chair
