DESCRIPTION:COVID19 UPDATE: PLEASE CONTACT EVENT ORGANIZER TO CONFIRM EVENT IS STILL SCHEDULED\nUndoing The Sins Of Past Government-Sanctioned Prosecution Of The LGBTQ Community In Asbury Park NJ\nJune 29\, 2021 - 7:00PM to 8:00PM EST\nPlease join New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal and Garden State Equality for an unprecedented event to begin a process of truth and reconciliation addressing past persecution of the LGBTQ+ community.\nFrom the 1930s to the 1960s\, the Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control – a division within the Attorney General's Office – used its enforcement authority to shut down more than 100 establishments that served LGBTQ+ patrons. Now\, more than 50 years later\, Attorney General Grewal will acknowledge this shameful period in our state's history and join our state's LGBTQ+ leaders in memorializing the pain caused by this injustice.\nAG Grewal will assist Garden State Equality and leaders in Asbury Park in placing a permanent marker to acknowledge this history – and to highlight efforts by GSE and others to protect the LGBTQ+ community from state-sanctioned discrimination.
