A Tribute To Ann Baker, Epitome Of A Feminist At Bayard Rustin Center For Social Justice In Princeton NJ
December 7, 2019 - 1:00PM to 2:30PM
Ann Baker was a dedicated fighter for reproductive & abortion rights & women’s empowerment as well as representation for our LGBTQIA Community.
Not only the beautiful partner to our Community Outreach Coordinator Carol Watchler, but a passionate warrior for social justice in her own right whose legacy demands to be recognized.
Please join our Bayard Rustin Center for Social Justice in this celebration of her life & her work in recognition of her monumental visionary actions which need to be remembered in hopes they will inspire the next generation.
Speakers attesting to her contributions both personally & professionally to be announced.
Some of Ann’s achievements included but certainly not limited to:
Created the National Center for the Pro-Choice Majority where she made an extraordinary nationwide impact in support of abortion providers by tracking anti-abortion obstructionists.
Lobbyist for NOW NJ - National Organization for Women of New Jersey, instrumental in stopping a sweeping anti-abortion bill, a victory that was foundational for women’s reproductive rights in NJ.
Developed the Family Equality Coalition to work for relationship rights for same-sex couples.
Ann’s work so pivotal to so many communities, her archival material now has a home in the Sallie Bingham Center for Women's History and Culture at Duke University.
