Online Event: 11th Annual Juneteenth 2020 "Curated Virtual Festival" Experience

June 20, 2020 - 10:00AM to 5:00PM EST

Virtual Festival
This year as you would imagine everything is happening a little different. We have had to "PIVOT" with the rest of the world around COVID-19. We have all asked the question, what will this summer look like? Will we be able to attend festivals, block parties, have birthday parties with friends, greet each other with a hug when we see each other, and many more questions. As a COVID-19 survivor, my family and I have a new outlook on life, be thankful, and love LOTS! Now last year our theme centered around back to the future through the lens of love.

This year, we are focused on building up, supporting, and encouraging our "BUSINESS and TALENT" community. Now that the statistics are out, everyone is seeing that the hardest-hit communities are the African American and Latino areas (no surprise there). What are we doing about it is the real question? To start we can invest in and support our community. Starting from Memorial Day with the African Festival, Juneteenth (Black Independence Day), and all the way through to Kwanzaa in December. We hope you will join us in our newly curated virtual experience.

How will it work:
10:00 AM with a LIVE DJ playing music throughout the day- there may be some guest stars that will step in and say hello.
10:30 AM - We will then open it up with our opening performances, Black National Anthem, etc.

Top of every hour - Start Presentations- We will have Vendors who will be actively showing you how to create, build, cook, bead, sow, and a number of other things LIVE. You can ask questions even order a kit for a follow-up session.

Every Half hour- we will break out into vendor groups where vendors will be telling you about their business and what they do. What they are selling and you can book orders write on the screen just like you would if you were in person.

Prizes will be given out throughout as has been the case in the past. We will have some game shows and highlighting some visitors who will be wearing orange.

Our guest engagement will be centered around the color Orange because orange is a symbol of strength and endurance. Orange represents enthusiasm, success, encouragement, and stimulation. So I am sure why you can see why we chose orange as our color of the year. We hope you can join us in wearing a hue of orange and tagging #Juneteentny or DM'ing us so we can share it on our Instagram and Facebook page.

Why we Celebrate:
Juneteenth is the official Celebration of the Emancipation of Slavery generally celebrated on June nineteenth (19th). Think of it as the African American 4th of July (without the fireworks- that is). Juneteenth is the African Americans Independence Day. We hope you will join us in celebrating it and pronouncing it loud! This year even more to strengthen the Black Dollar.

Other Changes:
In order to focus our efforts, we will not have a parade this year. The Unity Parade was a new addition last year and it was shaping up to be amazing this year but with the restrictions and not creating any added stress to our community we decided to keep it fun, local, and safe all VIRTUAL!
Tell a friend to tell a friend. We are still looking for vendors, presenters (you will have to make something), and sponsors. Lots of opportunities for promotion!

RAIN or SHINE the show will go on! Haha. Of course, it will, it is indoors.
We have sponsors who are very generous and like to give away cool things. In previous years we have had:
The Brooklyn Nets Team giving out shirts, hats, and balls
Home Depot: Giving out and working with kids to do arts and crafts kits like Bird Kits, Coasters, Tool Holders, Penny Banks, etc.
Pepsi Co.: Gave out over 2,000 bottles of Juice and Water to attendees
Jetro: Donated Hot Dogs and Buns for the Kids
East New York Restoration: Donated T-shirts to attendees
Clean Rite: Gave out $25 gift cards for the laundry mate
CAMBA Beacon Program: Gave out Target cards
Pawn Rite: Raffled off Plasma Screen TVs and other household needs.

And Much More. So Please register so you can hear about what to expect on this wonderful family day. Bring your kids, Father's, Mother's cousins, etc. We promise you will have a safe fun time.
